The Institut Pasteur de São Paulo (IPSP) and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) are announcing a new opportunity for young Life Sciences scientists who aspire to lead a cutting-edge research group. The call for proposals seeks highly qualified researchers to coordinate a four-year research group (“G4”) at IPSP, located in São Paulo’s capital.
The initiative, resulting from the cooperation agreement signed in December 2021, will select a postdoctoral scientist in the early or mid-career stage (with 5 to 8 years of postdoctoral experience) who wishes to establish an independent research group aligned with IPSP’s scientific strategy.
The proposed research project should be innovative and timely yet realistic within the 4-year timeframe of the award. He/she should be able to conduct his/her research in an independent manner, initiate collaborations, and will have demonstrated his/her capacity to secure international funding.
The G4 award holder will be encouraged to develop and strengthen his/her capacity to manage a team and to welcome and supervise Masters and PhD students, as well as interns.
Research must be focused on the following themes: structural biology of emergent/re-emergent pathogens, identification of pathogen ligands and their host receptors, proteomics and multi-omics technologies to identify new biomarkers and markers of disease severity, and drug discovery.
The deadline for submission of pre-proposal is March 21, 2025.
