All positions are linked to a project funded by the Institut Pasteur and FAPESP, entitled “Epidemiological, evolutionary and ecological analysis of the risk of virus spillover events from bats living in the Atlantic Forest”. This project aims to assess viral diversity in wild animals and analyze their zoonotic potential, contributing to the understanding of emerging diseases and the promotion of One Health.

Details of vacancies:

  1. Scientific Initiation
  • Description: Aimed at undergraduate students interested in training to capture and collect biological samples from wild animals, dissection, laboratory organization, molecular biology (PCR, RT-PCR, viral genome sequencing) and classic virology techniques.
  • Education required: Students studying undergraduate courses in areas such as Biology, Veterinary Medicine, Biomedical Sciences or related areas.
  • Application deadline: December 27, 2024.
  • More information here.

  1. Master’s Degree
  • Description: Aimed at recent graduates with an excellent academic record and proficiency in English, interested in working in the capture and collection of wild animal samples and in molecular biology laboratory activities.
  • Required Education: Degree in Biology, Veterinary Medicine, Biomedical Sciences or related fields.
  • Requirements: Approval in the selection process of the Postgraduate Program in Epidemiology and Single Health of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechny at USP.
  • Application deadline: December 27, 2024.
  • More information here.
  1. Post-Doctorate
  • Description: Seeking motivated candidates with an interest in virology, emerging viruses, bats, zoonoses and single health, to develop a project involving fieldwork, epidemiology, laboratory activities in classical and modern virology, as well as bioinformatics.
  • Required Education: PhD in areas such as Biology, Microbiology, Veterinary Medicine, Biotechnology or related areas.
  • Requirements: PhD obtained within the last 7 years, command of the English language, previous experience in a laboratory environment and molecular biology and next-generation sequencing protocols, as well as good knowledge of bioinformatics (R, Python, command line, high-performance computing).
